Terms
These terms govern use of thegeneraldata.com. They are deliberately narrow: they are about this website, not about any commercial arrangement. Data licenses and access to RL environments arise only under a separate written agreement.
1. Scope
This document covers your use of this website and the material published on it. It creates no relationship beyond that use. If you have a signed agreement with us, that agreement governs whatever it covers, and this document governs only the website.
2. Information, not an offer
Everything published here is information. Nothing on this website is an offer to contract, and nothing on it can be accepted so as to form an agreement. A data license, an evaluation set, or access to an RL environment arises only under a separate written agreement signed by both parties.
Where a page describes how we work, it describes practice, not a promise made to you. Where it describes what a corpus contains, it describes the class of material, not an inventory of what is available on the day you read it.
3. Figures and benchmarks are illustrative
Unless a document states otherwise in terms, figures, benchmark scores, leaderboards, and model comparisons published here are illustrative. They show the shape of a result rather than reporting a measured one. Where a figure is schematic, it is labeled SCHEMATIC beside the numbers. Do not rely on any figure published here as a measurement, and do not cite one as a benchmark result.
4. Downloadable material
Documents offered for download are provided for your evaluation. You may read them, circulate them inside your organization, and quote them with attribution. You may not redistribute them publicly, resell them, or present them as your own work.
Downloading a document that describes a dataset grants no license to that dataset. The document and the data are separate things, and only the second requires an agreement.
5. Ownership and trademarks
The text, design, code, and images on this website belong to The General Data Company unless attributed otherwise. Product names and marks referred to here belong to their respective owners. Naming a tool, a model, or a company is not a claim of affiliation with it, and not a claim of endorsement by it.
6. Acceptable use
Read the site, quote it with attribution, and write to us. Do not attempt to interfere with its operation, do not attempt to gain access to anything not published here, and do not use automated collection in a way that degrades the service for other readers. Our machine-readable files state what we make available to automated readers, and we would rather you used those.
7. No warranty
This website is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, that it will be free of error, or that any information on it is current at the moment you read it. Documents carry the date they were written where the date matters.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of this website or from reliance on information published here.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, consistent with our seat in San Francisco.
10. Changes
We may revise these terms. The version published at this address is the one that applies, and it replaces any earlier version.
